Word is, the chanteuse was "furious" when she learned where she'd have to plant her posterior for the ceremony.
"Mariah was in the VIP area, where every celebrity, like Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen, was seated," a snitch alleges to the paper. "But somehow she thought she'd be up with the Obama family. When she realized she wasn't, she bailed."
But Mrs. Nick Cannon, who's winning raves for her de-glammed performance in the Sundance Film Festival fave "Push," regrouped after her supposed snit and performed "Hero" for the president and first lady at the Neighborhood Ball.
